Starting a New Group

Local people regularly set up new community groups and there are lots of good reasons to do so. Whether it is in response to a specific issue or need, or because you want to make improvements in your local area, community groups are an important part of civil society.

If you are interested is setting up a community group, community development workers at eVOLution can help. When setting up a community group there are a number of issues you should consider, for example:

  • Who is going to undertake what role and which responsibility?
  • What skills are needed to help you achieve your goals?
  •  How are you going to go about forming a committee and do you need a constitution?
  • Are there any other groups with similar objectives?
  • Do you understand your options in terms of legal structures?
  • What policies and procedures do you need to put in place?
