Employer Supported Volunteering (ESV)

ESV or Employer Supported Volunteering provides an opportunity for business and public sector organisations to prove they value the communities in which they operate.

Businesses and the public sector are becoming increasingly interested in how their own employees can become involved in volunteering. Many and varied programmes are being set up to assist employees to volunteer, whether during work hours or in their own time.

ESV is practiced by 74% of FTSE 100 companies however it is not exclusive to big business with 61% of Small to Medium enterprises also engaging with their community in some way. There are many ways to support volunteering and they don’t necessarily involve losing staff hours.

Many companies today are looking for new and challenging ways to prove to their stakeholders that they are responsible corporate citizens. Increasingly they are turning to volunteering to help them meet their Corporate Responsibility targets. A company’s Corporate Responsibility covers issues such as good employment practices and diversity at work, environmental issues and community investment and volunteering.

As voluntary sector organisations we can build mutually beneficial partnerships with private and public sector organisations and gain access to valuable skills, equipment and a greater number of volunteers. Successful ESV policies rely on effective partnerships and Evolution can help you build valuable and lasting relationships.
